Georgia State Remains in 11th Place at Alexa Stirling Women’s Intercollegiate Invitational

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Georgia State women’s golf team shot a second round 314 to remain in 11th-place on Saturday at the Alexa Stirling Women’s Intercollegiate Invitational at Atlanta Athletic Club.
The Panthers sit at 55-over par, just one stroke behind Dartmouth for 10th and six strokes back of conference foe Coastal Carolina for ninth.
Freshman Emma Berlin led the Panthers on Saturday with a 4-over 76 to sit at 9-over par and tied for 26th entering the final round.
“We made a few too many big numbers today and just not enough birdies on a tough course,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “We can still climb some spots on the leaderboard and that will be our goal for tomorrow. We want to finish the fall as strong as possible to give us some momentum entering the spring.”
Sophomore Petra Duran shot a 6-over 78 on Saturday and is tied for 57th at 17-over par with 18 holes to play. Junior Harmanprit Kaur and sophomore Chloe Howard each shot 80 during round two. Howard stands in a tie for 44th at 13-over par, while Kaur is tied for 57th at 17-over par. Senior Jemima Gregson rounded out the line-up with an 87 and is 63rd at 25-over par.
No. 36 Louisville leads the 11-team field at 8-over par entering the final round. Virginia Tech remained in second place at 10-over par, while No. 30 Auburn in in third place at 17-over par. No. 29 Georgia stands in fourth-place at 18-over par while Indiana rounds out the top five at 19-over par.
Virginia Tech’s Keera Foocharoen shot a second-straight 2-under 70 to take the individual lead at 4-under par. Louisville’s Lauren Hartlage is in second place at 3-under par, while Virginia Tech’s Jessica Spicer stands third at even par. Auburn’s Kaleigh Telfer is in fourth place at 1-over par while a foursome of golfers are tied for fifth at 2-over par.

Teams will utilize tee times again on Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m. Georgia State will be paired with Dartmouth beginning at 8:40 a.m. off Hole No. 10.
Following this week’s tournament, Georgia State will open the spring season at the Amelia Island Collegiate Feb. 18-19, in Amelia Island, Fla.
