Georgia State Finishes in 10th Place at Alexa Stirling Women’s Intercollegiate Invitational

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Georgia State women’s golf team shot a final round 310 to finish in 10th-place on Sunday at the Alexa Stirling Women’s Intercollegiate Invitational at Atlanta Athletic Club.
The Panthers finished at 77-over par as teams played in windy, cold, and rainy conditions the first two rounds.
Freshman Emma Berlin led the Panthers again on Sunday with a 2-over 74 to finish at 11-over par and tied for 20th.
“Really proud of the way Emma played this week,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “Things are really starting to come together as she settles in to play in the States.
“Our team will take some time off before we start to get ready for the spring season. We have played a lot of golf over the last two months and know what we need to work on heading into the spring.”
Sophomore Petra Duran added a 6-over 78 to finish at 23-over par and tied for 55th. Sophomore Chloe Howard tied for 46th at 20-over par following a final round 79. Junior Harmanprit Kaur also shot 79 on Sunday to tie for 57th at 24-over par. Senior Jemima Gregson rounded out the line-up by finishing in 63rd at 36-over after shooting 83 on Sunday.
No. 36 Louisville held on for a one stroke lead over No. 30 Auburn by finishing at 18-over par. The Tigers finished in second place at 19-over par as Virginia Tech came in third at 25-over par. Indiana placed fourth at 32-over par while No. 35 Kennesaw State rounded out the top five at 41-over par.
Virginia Tech’s Keera Foocharoen earned low medalist honors at 4-under par following a final round 72. Louisville’s Lauren Hartlage came in second place at 1-under par, while Auburn’s Kaleigh Telfer finished in third place at 1-over par. Auburn’s Mychael O’Berry finished in fourth place at 2-over par, while Indiana’s Mary Parsons and Auburn’s Julie McCarthy tied for fifth at 5-over par.
Georgia State will open the spring season at the Amelia Island Collegiate Feb. 18-19, in Amelia Island, Fla.
